Michael McFayden will return to Can-Am in a new Maverick R that was prepared by Alsup Racing Development. His first race will be King of the Hammers before doing the Mint 400 in March, the full SCORE International calendar, and the Vegas to Reno in a truck from Desert Assassins.

McFayden moved back to Can-Am for 2025 after spending 2024 with Honda Factory Off-Road Racing, driving the Honda Talon 2P as a factory development driver. He finished second in class in his debut with the team at the Mint 400 before entering the Vegas to Reno and SCORE’s Baja 500 and 1000; after retiring from the 500 and V2R, he won the 1000 in the Pro UTV NA class.

By moving to the Maverick R, he will compete in the Pro UTV Open classes instead.

“He brings to the table an established resume of winning, an exhaustive work ethic and solid experience in offroad racing,” commented Alsup RD head Mitch Alsup. “I am proud to see Michael behind the wheel of Alsup RD’s latest Maverick R platform.”

Besides Alsup RD, his Can-Am was prepared with the help of Wayne Israelsen. The head of AllTech Motorsports and a King of the Hammers veteran, Israelsen was the 2017 recipient of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame’s IMPACT Award for his work in off-road vehicle and rock crawler prep.

“The Alsup team and I spent countless hours preparing this new Can-Am Maverick R for KOH,” said McFayden. “The energy and expertise this team brings to the table are unmatched. We’re ready to put our hard work to the test and show our partners what this collaboration can do on the track.”

His first race will be KOH’s Toyo Tires Desert Challenge. After leaving Hammertown, he will team up with Cameron Steele’s Desert Assassins in a truck for select starts.

“We are stoked to have Michael racing around the DA and love watching him rail his Can-Am,” Steele stated. “As Mitchell Alsup moves up to Spec truck we are excited to see Michael race his UTV but also join the DA in the Mid-Sized Truck class and in the future the Spec truck with Cameron and Mitchell during 2025.”
