The Audi RS Q e-tron E2 will ride again, albeit not exactly in the same environment as the deserts that it conquered. Audi Tradition is bringing the e-tron along with a 1984 Audi Quattro Rallye to Saturday’s FAT ICE RACE in Zell am See, where they will be respectively piloted by Jutta Kleinschmidt and Harald Demuth.
Kleinschmidt is the first and only woman to win the Dakar Rally outright after claiming the 2001 edition. Thus, it only made sense for her to pilot the 2024 Dakar winner, the final time Audi competed in rally raid before shuttering its division there to focus on F1.
Demuth, a two-time German rally champion, will drive the Quattro that won the 1984 World Rally Championship with Stig Blomqvist.
Another Quattro, a Group S model, will be driven by Tom Kristensen on the frozen lakebed of Lake Saint Moritz in Switzerland on February 21–22 as part of the The ICE St. Moritz (International Concours of Elegance). Unlike its predecessor, the Group S never raced as the category, which was supposed to replace Group B in 1986, never came to fruition. This Quattro has a tubular space frame, plastic bodywork, and four-valve turbocharged engine.
Audi Tradition, the historic motorsport and revival division of the German manufacturer, will also bring the Quattros to the Heidelberg Historic on July 4–5, the Eifel Rallye Festival (July 24–26), the Donau Classic (July 18–19), and the Sachsen Classic (August 14–16).
Naturally, the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 10–13 will be a destination too.
