After fielding the Ridgeline for over a decade, Honda Factory Off-Road Racing will switch to the new Honda Baja Passport in 2025. The Passport will make its debut at the Mint 400 on Saturday with Ethan Ebert returning as driver, competing in the Unlimited Truck class. After that, it will race in SCORE’s Baja 500 and Baja 1000 in Trophy Truck.

Unlike the Ridgeline, which is a pickup truck, the Baja Passport is based on the 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport SUV. The TrailSport variant was introduced in 2021 with off-roading in mind, though the standard model from 2022 onward was aesthetically inspired by the Ridgeline.

Ebert’s Passport uses the same HR35TT engine as the Ridgeline. It is a 3.5-liter, twin turbo V6 developed by Honda Racing Corporation and capable of 550 horsepower. HRC also made a a special intake plenum and custom ECU programming for the motor.

The Baja Passport also has 24 inches of suspension travel at the front and 30 in the rear.

Ebert was elevated to the Ridgeline for 2023 onward after spending two years in Honda Factory Off-Road Racing’s development program, where he raced the Talon. He took over the truck from team principal Jeff Proctor, who retired due to concussions after five Baja 500 and two Baja 1000 wins in Class 7. Ebert also won Class 7 with the truck at the 2023 Mint.

The team introduced a second-generation Ridgeline at the 2023 Baja 1000, which was eligible for Trophy Truck competition since it uses a TT chassis from TSCO. Ebert finished third in Unlimited 2WD Truck with the new Ridgeline at the 2024 Mint, which he followed with a 13th in TT at the 500 and 17th at the 1000.

The Ridgeline will run the Mint’s Unlimited Race on Saturday.
