After undergoing a second operation on his fractured vertebra in late January, František Brutovský has been fully cleared to resume physical activity. He intends to get back in shape before racing again, renewing his hopes of making his Dakar Rally debut in the future.

Brutovský suffered the injury in a rollover during SS3 of the Hungarian Baja last August. He underwent the first surgery a few weeks later, which was successful and required him to rest for most of fall and winter.

He and MING Racing Sports were sidelined for the rest of the year, forcing them to abandon entering the Dubai International Baja and Qatar International Baja. Those starts were intended to develop the Ford F-150 EVO before eventually making their Dakar Rally debut in 2025.

The second surgery came in January, requiring another six weeks to recover. On Thursday, Brutovský confirmed doctors have given him a clean bill of health.

“Shortly after my second surgery and I already have fantastic news from the doctors: I can return with no restrictions,” wrote Brutovský. “Finally, freedom after eight long months. Now, a lot of workouts and training to come back stronger than before! Thanks everyone for the support, let’s do this!”

Brutovský mainly competes in the Hungarian Cross-Country Rally Championship and other Bajas around Europe. The 2025 Hungarian season begins on March 21 with the Desert Express 300.
