The inaugural Reno 600, which was supposed to be the longest race on the 2025 Unlimited Off-Road Racing schedule, has been delayed to 2026 due to economic factors. It was originally scheduled for April 16–19 as the third round of the season.

A 689-mile race was planned starting in Reno before heading to Tonopah and back, with 15 remote pits planned.

Economic concerns had also forced UNLTD’s Mint 400 to drop short course from its 2025 program. Like with the 600, the Martellis hope to bring short course racing to the Mint in 2026.

UNLTD released the following statement on Wednesday:

After careful analysis of the current economic landscape and extensive feedback from the off-road racing community, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the inaugural Reno 600 until 2026.

Our primary focus is always on the well-being and success of our racers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff. Given the challenges many are facing, we believe it is in the best interest of the entire off-road community to allow time for recovery and ensure that this event launches under the strongest possible conditions.

We remain fully committed to bringing this race to life and will continue working closely with all stakeholders, including affected counties, land management agencies, and emergency response teams, to refine and optimize the event.

We appreciate the continued support from our partners and the off-road racing community, and we look forward to making the Reno 600 a reality in 2026.

Even with the Reno 600 canceled, the state of Nevada will still have other long-distance desert races in 2025. Best In The Desert is hosting the new Nevada 1000 in early May, while VORRA and Legacy Racing have the 1000-mile Baja Nevada The Long Way the following month. Unlike other events, including those on BITD’s schedule, the Nevada 1000 will be a three-day race and run in a stage format not unlike those seen in rallies.

The third and final race of the 2025 UNLTD season will be the California 300 in October.
