The inaugural Nevada 1000 Invitational will not take place in 2025. Best In The Desert announced Wednesday that due to “the current economic climate, which makes hosting a three-day race—along with its associated costs—challenging for both organizers and competitors,” it has been replaced by the Silver State 300.
Scheduled for April 29 to May 3, the Nevada 1000 was supposed to be the second round of the 2025 BITD season. A revival of a race that last took place in 2005, it would have been the longest event on the calendar by a wide margin.
However, BITD was unable to draw enough commitment amid ongoing economic concerns. Similar circumstances also forced UNLTD to push back its inaugural Reno 600, which was supposed to take place two weeks before the Nevada 1000, to 2026. Baja Nevada The Long Way, another new thousand-mile desert race put on by the Legacy Racing Association and VORRA, is still scheduled to run on June 25–29.
“This was not an easy call,” began BITD owner Bryan Folks. “We put a lot of effort into developing the Nevada 1000 because we believe it has the potential to become one of the premier off-road races in the United States. However, the timing just isn’t right. The last thing off-road racing needs is an event that doesn’t draw enough participation to justify the investment.”
In its place, the Silver State 300 will take place on May 8–10. Most of its 330-mile course was already set aside for the Nevada 1000’s first day, meaning BITD did not need to go through too many hurdles to secure the land usage permits. The course will have six pit areas.
Powersport Pros took on title sponsorship for the race, transferring the $50,000 prize money intended for the Nevada 1000 to the 300.
The 2025 BITD season began with King of the Hammers’ Toyo Tires Desert Challenge for the four-wheel classes.
