When the Mexican 1000 kicked off on Saturday, the Trophy Truck of Steve Menzies and his son Bryce was notably missing.

Due to other obligations and spending time with the family, the Menzies are not going for a fourth consecutive overall win in a row.

“We will be back next year,” wrote Bryce in an Instagram Story, “bummed to be missing my favorite race of the year.”

Racing a 2021 Mason TT in the Evolution Unlimited Truck category, Bryce and Steve had won the Mexican 1000 overall for Cars every year since 2022. In 2024, they battled with Larry Roeseler for the overall before pulling away on the final day. Steve usually handles driving duties whereas Bryce takes over on occasion.

While the younger Menzies is no stranger to Baja since he’s a SCORE regular, he’s always been a fan of doing NORRA events for their laid-back yet competitive atmosphere. Bryce is coming off an eighth-place finish in SCORE’s season-opening San Felipe 250 earlier this month.

The Menzies are not the only defending winners absent from the 2025 race. Matt Sutherland, who has also three-peated on the bike side, is not entered either.

With the Menzies absent, Brent Fox currently leads the overall for Cars after the first day of racing. Scott Bailey is the only truck who completed Saturday’s action in Evolution Unlimited Truck.
