Former Ukrainian Rally Cup co-driver Ivan Zizak was killed in action in November 2022 at the age of 28. The Automobile Federation of Ukraine was recently informed of the news, releasing the following statement on Wednesday:

While defending Ukraine from the Russian-fascist invaders, rally competitor and Odesa native Ivan Andriyovych Zizak was killed in action during a combat mission. The incident occurred back on November 7, 2022, but the tragic news has only now reached us…

Almost from the very first day of the full-scale invasion, Ivan voluntarily joined his city’s local territorial defense unit, and soon after joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the planning of operations and the liberation of the city of Kherson. At the time of his death, he was just over 28 years old…

The Automobile Federation of Ukraine expresses its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Ivan Andriyovych.

Zizak had been the navigator for his father Andriy. In 2009 and 2010, he read the pacenotes for Andriy as they competed in a Lada Samara 2108, finishing as high as fourth in class at the 2009 Shapovalov Rally Cup and Alekandrov Rally Cup. The older Zizak would go on to win the 2010 Ukraine Liman Cup title in the P6 category with his son and Igor Storchak as co-drivers.
