Jeff Zwart and his Porsche GT3 Cup car set the pace in the pilot episode of the Hoonigan Rally Speedrun Championship, one that Faruk Kugay’s 1980 Toyota Corolla couldn’t clear.
But can a rally driver in a full-fledged rally car do so? That’s what Alastair Scully wanted to find out.
The 24-year-old has been competing in the American Rally Association since 2023, winning the East Regional Open 4WD class at the 2025 season-opening Sno*Drift Rally. He is currently fourth in the East regional overall standings.
Scully’s experience also includes dabbling in Nitrocross NEXT, including doing both rounds of the 2024–25 season before it was cut short.
For the RSC, Scully showed up in his 2019 Hyundai i20 R5 that he uses in the ARA and meets WRC2 regulation. Since it’s his competition car, he was not allowed to hit the course’s jumps.
In any case, his goal is to beat Zwart’s time of 1:54.12. Kugay set a 2:11.23 in Episode 2.
