Trent Koury is the fourth driver to tackle the Hoonigan Rally Speedrun Championship, doing so with his 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS.
Koury usually competes in the California Rally Series, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2023 before finishing runner-up in the 2024 Open Lite class championship. His Subaru has also seen action in the American Rally Association, competing in the ARA West’s NA4WD class.
The Subaru is a naturally aspirated, all-wheel-drive rally car. The 2.5-liter engine is stock as are the differentials, and the car also features a five-speed transmission.
Fellow ARA driver Alastair Scully recorded the fastest time of the first three to go, setting a 1:45.83 in his 2019 Hyundai i20 R5. Jeff Zwart (Episode 1) set a 1:54.12 in his Porsche GT3 while Faruk Kugay’s 1980 Toyota Corolla went 2:11.23 in Episode 2.
