The Taurus Evo Max is now in the “final stage of development”, with a formal unveil set to take place on June 7 at the Dakar Tour in Les Comes, Spain. Its racing debut will come the month after at the Baja Aragón.
The successor to the wildly successful Taurus T3 Max, the Evo Max was announced in February. Parts for the sequel were tested during the 2025 Dakar Rally the month prior before production began over the spring.
Only 12 units are produced for the initial wave and for Taurus teams who are certain they will run the 2026 Dakar, meaning they quickly sold out. Taurus has started a second production run to account for the additional demand, with deliveries expected at the end of the year.
The Evo Max’s chassis is 55 millimeters lower than the T3 Max, allowing for a lower center of gravity. It also has a redesigned cockpit to be more spacious, while customers can also order features inside like an upgraded sun shield for the navigator, foot rests, and a spare wheel bracket. The windshield and air intake are integrated into the interior as well.
To keep the car cool, Taurus has designed a new integrated cooling package that’s built into the frame. The intercooler’s location has also been moved while a water fan is added.
Other new features include wheel scrapers, a redesigned exhaust system and differentials, and an adjusted gearbox ratio.
The chassis will come in five colors: black, blue, gray, red, and white.
While the Taurus is intended for cross-country rallies, packages will also be available for those competing in desert racing. For example, ventilated brake disks are available in addition to their non-ventilated counterparts. The rally version uses the Tensor DS tires whereas desert racers can use BFGoodrich T/A KDR3.
Taurus will continue providing support for the T3 Max. Both the T3 Max and Evo Max are also available as kit cars for delivery.
