Serge Moncéré, a truck racer at the Paris–Dakar Rally from the 1980s until the mid-2000s, has passed away. He was 74 years old.

Born in 1951, Moncéré made his debut in 1986 on a MAN truck with Jean-Paul Bosonnet and Michel Chaumont, where they retired. He was a longtime member of the Mitsubishi Ralliart team, mainly serving on their Mercedes-Benz 2628 AK and 1936 AK assistance trucks. He often rode in the middle and right seats for drivers like Bosonnet, Alexandre Boutevillain, Franck Dupuy-Gardel, Christian Lambert, and Étienne Martinez.

While his trucks were on course to quickly provide service to Team Mitsubishi’s competitors, they were also classified in the final results. His best finish was 26th in 1993, riding with Martinez and Christian Haller in a 1936.

His final start was in 2004, sharing a Mercedes-Benz 1735 AK with Dupuy-Gardel and Hervé Kedzierski.
