With Veloce Racing having confirmed their entry for the upcoming Extreme H season, drivers Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor got to try out the Pioneer 25 on Wednesday in a pseudo-preseason test.

The test took place in Fontjoncouse, located in southern France. Hansen and his brother Timmy had already driven the Pioneer 25 in previous sessions, while Wednesday was the first time Taylor got to do so.

The Hansens had tested the car in Fontjoncouse last October, where they were joined by Catie Munnings and Niclas Grönholm.

“It’s really fascinating,” Hansen said. “Car is running well, we’re getting good progress, and it’s so much fun to be out in the hydrogen car. It’s a real pleasure to drive and really enjoyable.”

Hansen and Taylor were leading the 2024 Extreme E standings when the season was abandoned after four races to focus on transitioning to hydrogen. The duo started working together in 2023, where they won three times and finished third in points.

The 2024 season began with a pair of thirds for Veloce at the Desert X Prix before sweeping the Hydro X Prix. It has been nearly 11 months since the latter races, the last on-track action for the series as it continues its transformation into Extreme H.

Veloce Racing confirmed its XH entry in February. With a 2025 calendar still not revealed, Hansen and Taylor were busy doing other things in the meantime. Hansen finished second to Grönholm at the FIA World Rallycross season opener in Portugal just days before the Fontjoncouse test. Taylor had been focused on rallying with Subaru.

“It’s my very first time driving the Extreme H car, so I was really, really looking forward to it,” Taylor stated after her first drive, which she called “a lot of fun. It’s like a a new and improved version of the Extreme E car.”

Taylor won the inaugural Extreme E title for Rosberg X Racing.
