Ronald Van Loon and Oase Motorsport will switch to a Toyota GR DKR Hilux for the 2026 Dakar Rally.
Van Loon drove a Red-Lined REVO at this year’s Dakar, where he finished 34th overall and 23rd in Ultimate with a best run of 37th in Stage 9. He became the top Dutchman at the halfway mark, then stayed out of trouble to reach the finish with the only major issues being a handful of tire punctures.
The effort also marks a rebound after being knocked out of the overall just two stages into his Dakar debut in 2023 with a mechanical issue. He skipped the 2024 race after his daughter was born.
After the race, he told Rallymaniacs that he had no concrete plan for a return in 2026. He sold the REVO in June.
The Hilux is one of the top rally raid machines today, having won the Dakar Rally four times. Three of those victories came with Toyota Gazoo Racing, who has a factory deal with SVR. SVR recently opened a division in Europe to better streamline operations with TGR, though it also means teams like the Dutch-based Oase can connect with them too.
Oase Motorsport was founded by Van Loon and his friend Erik Lemmen in 2014. They won the Carta Rallye in 2018 and the Morocco Desert Challenge in 2024.
