Carl and Craig Searles won’t be the only brothers racing the Dakar Rally on two wheels in 2026. Adrien and Paul Costes also received their acceptance letters from the ASO on Friday.
Both are the sons of Lionel Costes, an enduro rider-turned-rally navigator who usually calls the shots for Jean-Rémy Bergounhe at Dakar. Bergounhe opted to take 2025 off, so the older Costes became the copilot for Ludovic Gherardi; the duo finished 32nd in Ultimate.
Adrien and Paul have competed in select World Rally-Raid Championship races since 2023 for Nomade Racing, the former usually on a KTM and the latter on a Husqvarna. They debuted together at the 2023 Rallye du Maroc, where Adrien finished 35th in Rally2 to Paul’s 71st.
In 2024, they entered the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal. Riding together, Paul and Adrien respectively finished 13th and 14th in class. At Morocco, Adrien was 28th versus Paul’s 81st.
In April, Adrien competed in the Carta Rallye and finished fourth for 450cc bikes.
Nomade Racing will support the brothers at Dakar. Adrien in particular is also eager to be joined by his friends who’ve been accepted as well like Rémy Moreau.
