Tavo Vildósola and Jason McNeil narrowly missed out on winning last year’s Baja 1000. They want to finally get over that hump this year, and will once again share the #21 Trophy Truck for November’s race.
Vildósola recruited McNeil, the 2023 SCORE Trophy Truck Spec champion, to share the #21 for the 2024 Baja 1000. The former had won the 2023 1000 as the teammate to Bryce Menzies and Andy McMillin, but he and Menzies resumed their rivalry after that as they battled with Alan Ampudia for the 2024 TT class championship.
Menzies and Christopher Polvoorde dropped out early with a steering failure, leaving the Vildósola–McNeil truck to battle with the Ampudias. The #21, which qualified seventh, worked through the order and eventually passed a stopped Ampudia at RM 765.
They ultimately finished runner-up to Luke McMillin and Rob MacCachren by six minutes. Despite beating Ampudia in the race, Ampudia finished third in TT to narrowly take the class title by one point.
Halfway through the 2025 season, Vildósola faces an uphill battle in the points. After finishing sixth at the San Felipe 250, he was disqualified from the Baja 500 and his third-place run revoked because he missed a checkpoint and turned around to hit it, going backwards on the course in the process. He sits 11th in the TT standings.
Likewise, McNeil is 14th in TT Spec points. He won his category’s pole at both events so far, eventually finishing eighth in San Felipe followed by bowing out of the Baja 500 when his truck suffered a vapor lock while leading.
