Hansen Motorsport was resigned to their fate, set to miss their first FIA World Rallycross race since the series’ inception in 2014. Fortunately, despite being a rival from another manufacturer, CE Dealer Team and Volvo were willing to help out.
On Thursday, CE Dealer Team confirmed Timmy and Kevin Hansen will indeed be on the grid for this weekend’s round in Finland with their support.
“A few days ago, we could not see a way back to Finland, then these discussions began and suddenly there was hope,” explained Hansen Motorsport head Kenneth Hansen. “I could never have imagined this as a solution, it just doesn’t happen in motorsport. This is an incredible act of goodwill, proving the love for the sport and the commitment to its future.”
Due to disagreements with a “major partner”, the Hansens expected to sit out the KymiRing round. A return at the final two rounds in Turkey was on the table as well, but they stressed that their new goal would be to look toward the 2026 season.
Through the first three rounds, Timmy sits third in points while Kevin is sixth. The Hansens and CE Dealer Team are two of the three EV programs in World RX (Kristoffersson Motorsport being the other), though they all race different marques as Hansen uses Peugeot versus CE being a Volvo-backed program.
CE Dealer Team consists of Niclas Grönholm and Klara Andersson. The former is second in the standings after winning the season opener in Portugal while Andersson is tied with Kevin. Andersson is also well familiar with the Hansens, having raced against them in Extreme E as well.
“We support Hansen Motorsport because keeping them on the grid reflects exactly why we started CE Dealer Team with Volvo CE four years ago,” added CE Dealer Team head Micke Jansson. “Of course, we are a highly competitive team, but our purpose has always been bigger than trophies. It’s about driving motorsport and industry towards a sustainable future. Seeing rival teams come together to make this happen proves the spirit and potential of World RX. In the end, it was a clear choice to step up.”
