Unlike their Pro counterparts, who will do so at Glen Helen, Championship Off-Road’s Sportsman classes wrapped up their 2025 season at Crandon (thereby making them the only racing where the Polaris World Championships name was actually correct).
The Big House technically hosted a Sportsman tripleheader, featuring races from Thursday through Saturday for a handful of classes because Race 1 at Bark River got rained out for some. Even though Crandon brought more favorable weather, the make-up races on Thursday were still what Pro Am SxS driver Josh Schuiteman called a “soupy mess” due to mud and low visibility.
The five classes that raced Thursday didn’t lock up any points battles since there was still a “full” weekend of races to go, but some got new life breathed into their title hopes by winning like Scott Boulanger and Connor Schulz to narrow the deficits in their respective championship chases. Alas, the official Crandon races weren’t enough to swing the titles in their favors.
Sitting third in points, Schulz tried to rally in 1600 Single Buggy for the ages by winning Thursday and Friday. He initially continued his momentum by taking the lead from Collin Byer early in Saturday’s action, only for his prospects to die for good when his car broke down with a shock failure on the frontstretch. With Schulz out, Byer scored his maiden win; Michael Seefeldt finished 11th to Taylor Roloff’s fourth in the final race, but the former held on to win the title. Schulz’s DNF also dropped him to fourth in the final 1600 Single Buggy standings behind Travis Trelstad.
Boulanger won two of three for the weekend in Super Stock Truck and finished second on Friday. Still, it was not enough to catch Nick Byng or Cory Holtger, the latter beating Boulanger for second by two points.
Short Course Kart was a dramatic affair between Gabe Holtger and Roman Tullberg. Holtger dominated on Saturday to win and force a stalemate atop the standings, and he claimed the tiebreaker on wins. Tullberg colliding with brother and Saturday runner-up Jacobi also didn’t help, getting stuck as a result.
Kody Krantz double dipped with a pair of championships in 570 SxS and 200 SxS.
Cheyne Statezny, usually the series’ play-by-play announcer, traded in his microphone for a helmet to compete in Sportsman SxS. Sporting an Iroman Stewart-inspired livery, he finished 20th and 15th in the two races.
