Tavo Vildósola is sitting out the Baja 400 for personal reasons, but will be back for the Baja 1000. His father Gus and Ricky Johnson will still compete in the 400 in the #1L.

“Everything else stays the same. We’re still committed to winning the Baja 1000, racing with Jason, and improving on our second overall position from last year,” Vildósola said on Wednesday. “It’s unfortunate that I can’t race at the 400, but I wish all the best of luck, obviously to my dad and to Ricky for them to go win their 15th race in a row.”

Vildósola finished sixth overall at the season-opening San Felipe 250 in April after being the fastest qualifier. He initially placed third at the Baja 500 two months later, but was disqualified after missing a waypoint and going backwards on the track to validate it. With two races left, he sits 11th in the Trophy Truck standings.

For November’s Baja 1000, he will share the #21 truck with Jason McNeil once again. The duo teamed up for the 2024 race and finished second. Vildósola lost last year’s TT title by just one point to Alan Ampudia.

While Vildósola is absent, his dad’s quest for a fourth straight class title continues in TT Legends. Riding a 14-race win streak, he and Johnson lead David Payne in the Legends points by 12 points.

Gus Vildósola and Johnson will qualify for the Baja 400 on Thursday, while race day is on Saturday.
