In 2021, Extreme E held its inaugural race weekend in Saudi Arabia. Four years later, its final round and Extreme H’s first will also be in the Middle Eastern country.

On Wednesday, series officials announced the Extreme E Final Lap and Extreme H’s debut round will be held in Qiddiya. The former is scheduled for October 4–5 while the latter is on October 9–11.

“Qiddiya City is the ideal launchpad for the FIA Extreme H World Cup, a new frontier for motorsport that embodies purpose, innovation and entertainment,” said series boss Alejandro Agag. “More than just a race venue, it’s a statement of intent. A visually stunning, technologically ambitious location that sets the tone for a new era of motorsport. We are proud to showcase the power of hydrogen and sustainable technology.”

Located in Riyadh Province, Qiddiya is basically an entertainment city focused on tourism and culture. Among its planned features are a Six Flags that’ll be the largest theme park in the Middle East, a Dragon Ball theme park, and a race track for F1 and MotoGP. The city was developed as part of Saudi Vision 2030, a project by the government to turn Saudi Arabia into a global economic and developmental power.

Extreme E ran the 2022 Desert X Prix in NEOM, a planned city that’s also part of Vision 2030. NEOM was also the title sponsor of McLaren’s Extreme E and Formula E teams, as well as the sponsor for XE’s Island X Prix.

“Qiddiya City is envisioned not just as a destination for play, but as an example of contemporary, sustainable urban planning and design,” stated Qiddiya Investment Company managing director Abdullah Al-Dawood. “Hosting the inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup underscores our commitment to showcasing sustainable motorsport while positioning Saudi Arabia as a global hub for future-focused experiences.

“We look forward to welcoming the world to witness this next chapter in racing.”
