José María Camí and his brother Cristian will race the Dakar Rally for the first time in 2026. To prepare, they will race the Rallye du Maroc later in October, marking their first time competing in a W2RC event.

The Camís primarily compete in CERTT with their Can-Am Maverick X3. José sits fifth in the T4 drivers’ standings while Cristian is in the same spot for the navigators’ side, with their best finish of the season being a sixth at Baja Aragon and the Cierzo Rally Ejército de Tierra.

While they usually race a Can-Am Maverick X3, they’ll switch to the more powerful Maverick R for Morocco and Dakar. Buggy Masters Team is preparing their ride.

Gerard Farrés, who’s raced Dakar 18 times on a bike and in an SSV, has been coaching both brothers. He finished sixth in class at the 2025 edition.

“Two brothers united by the motor and adventure, with whom we have trained a lot and who are ready for this next challenge, the Dakar 2026 in Yanbu,” wrote Farrés. “I was lucky enough to be by his side improving the driving and co-driving technique, so this news makes me very happy.”

The Rallye du Maroc is often used as a dress rehearsal for Dakar. While it’ll be their first time running a race on the World Rally-Raid Championship, they’ve done some desert rallies before such as the Morocco Desert Challenge and Addax Rally.
