Mathieu Dovèze usually races with orange and blue gear, but is entering the Rallye du Maroc wearing pink instead. In recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dovèze will be kitted out in a predominantly pink version of his suit and helmet.

The jacket will eventually be turned over to a sponsor, who plans to donate it to raise money for cancer research.

Irina Petrichei, a bike rider and W2RC photographer, publicly revealed in a post on Thursday that she was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and has undergone four surgeries since. Despite the tribulations she’s faced, Petrichei discussed the effort to stay grateful, and to live fully every single day.”

“This year, French rider @mathieudoveze #21 is hitting the dunes of @rallyedumaroc dressed head to toe in pink — racing not just for glory, but for a cause,” Petrichei wrote. “Every jump, every mile, every heartbeat on that bike is dedicated to raising awareness for cancer. His pink jacket will later be donated to a sponsor, who in turn will donate funds to support cancer research.

“Bonne chance, mon ami @mathieudoveze — and thank you for racing in pink for all of us.”

Morocco is Dovèze’s second start of the 2025 season. An early crash ended his prospects of contending for the Rally2 overall, but still won two stages and placed 76th in class.

He hopes to rebound at the Rallye du Maroc, where he crashed out in 2024.
