Before the Rallye du Maroc, Sébastien Loeb and Seth Quintero got to test drive Martin Macík Jr.’s MM EVO 4 truck. Guess that seat time rubbed some good luck on all three of them: Loeb went on to score his first rally raid win in three years, Quintero closed out a challenging season with a stage win, and Macík added his third RdM trophy in the Truck class.
Macík, who previously won in 2022 and 2024, dominated the race from start to finish. His truck, nicknamed Joseph, won all but one stage and had over seven hours on the next closest truck. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for him, however, as he did get lost from time to time.
“The rally was tough, the terrain diverse, and we truly experienced it all,” he commented. “We even got stuck in the dunes for a moment, and our navigator František (Tomášek) briefly lost our route right at the end, but that’s part of racing. Our truck Joseph ran perfectly, and we’re heading home confident that we’re ready for Dakar 2026.”
The Truck class only appeared at Morocco and the season-opening Dakar Rally, which Macík also won.
Gert Huzink was Macík’s primary rival in his MKR Renault hybrid truck. He won Stage 2 despite being the last truck on course because his left rear wheel broke off the day before. In Stage 3, he finished second to Macík even after a hard landing that hurt navigator Hugo Kupper and mechanic Mario Kress’ backs.
His cousin Kay fell out of the picture after rolling in Stage 2. His truck also completely lost air pressure in all four tires 30 kilometers before the Stage 3 finish, costing him even more time. Kay eventually bowed out after hitting a ditch on the fourth leg that resulted in back injuris for Joël Ebbers and Martin Roesink.
Gert reached the Stage 4 finish before withdrawing to facilitate Ebbers and Roesink’s return to the Netherlands for treatment. While he didn’t reach the finish, Gert was still classified in third overall.
With the Huzinks gone, Darek Łysek moved up to second. Making his W2RC debut, Łysek also raced an MM EVO 4 called Czeslaw.
Claudio Bellina retired from the race due to “upcoming professional commitments.”
