The Last Man Standing challenge is back for another year, SCORE bike liaison Andy Kirker announced on Wednesday. It awards a $1,000 cash prize to the final Pro Moto Ironman rider who crosses the finish line at the Baja 1000 in November.
The award debuted at the 2024 Baja 1000, where it was claimed by Miguel Luna. He placed 12th and last of the Pro Moto Ironman competitors who reached the finish, and was 64th overall and the penultimate rider to legally complete the race.
“Legally” is an important distinction to make here. Due to the Baja 1000 being so long and chaotic, the award will only be given to whoever completes the full 854-mile course within the 36-hour time limit including penalties; if penalties pushes one’s final time over that maximum, they are officially considered a DNF and won’t be eligible for Last Man Standing.
The winner of the award must also be present at the awards ceremony on Sunday, November 16.
Like in 2024, the Last Man Standing is sponsored by Inter-Sky Skylights.
