“The Wash” in Ensenada will be part of the Baja 1000 course, SCORE announced Thursday. It last appeared at a SCORE race in 2019 as part of the inaugural Baja 400; the section was also used for the 2018 Baja 1000.

Also known as “Arroyo Ensenada” in its native language, the Wash is a sweeping 1.77-mile dirt area that goes under a series of bridges that fans can watch from. Fans can also watch from the banks along the course and water.

Being located right outside Ensenada means it is the first dirt section that racers encounter. Upon departing Boulevard Costero, one will travel along Avenida Club Rotario and First Street until they get to the Wash, where timing for the course begins. There is a 37 mph speed limit before the Wash.

After the Wash, they will arrive on Ambar Street and head to Ruiz Avenue followed by the highway. Nearly 854 miles later, the race will end in Ensenada with competitors once again going through the Wash.

Pre-running for the race will open on Saturday at 8 AM, between RM 43.92 and RM 810.06.
