Roberto Romo Jr. will not compete in November’s Baja 1000, he announced Friday.
He did not give a reason for his absence, especially as he had already been registered for the race. His #33T was one of fifteen 2WD Trophy Trucks entered prior to his announcement.
“Thank you very much to everyone for such an incredible year,” he started. “Unfortunately, we will not be present at this Baja 1000. We’ll see you next year. We will come back stronger.
“Thanks to the entire team for making this possible and to the fans who support us. Thank you and to the sponsors, especially Coastal Aluminum, for always supporting us and continuing to believe in us. Without them, it would not be possible.”
Romo is currently ninth in TT 2WD points. He began the season by finishing tenth in class at the San Felipe 250, but retired from the Baja 500 and Baja 400 due to mechanical issues. The latter, held in September, ended with an engine failure.
He placed ninth in Trophy Truck at the 2024 Baja 1000.
While his SCORE season ends a race early, Romo intends to compete in SNORE’s Rage at the River in December.
