Autogalerie Hranice, a Czech dealer specializing in restoring vintage cars, is building a Porsche 911 for the 2026 Dakar Classic. The company acquired the car in August.

“Since the end of August 2025, we have in the workshop one of the most iconic sports cars of history: the Porsche 911, and a whole new chapter of life awaits it,” proclaims Autogalerie Hranice. “It won’t just stay on the road. We’re preparing it for the Dakar Classic. Yes, this car is headed to the desert!”

The project began by taking the car apart to work on its organs. The rear body was reinforced to better handle the terrain and hard impacts while still keeping the subframe and rear geometry, while the chassis was strengthened with threaded mounts and an aluminum skid plate.

The rubber fuel lines were swapped out for stronger material and the filler neck was moved elsewhere since the spare tire sits above the fuel tank. To ensure the tire doesn’t fall off or damage the tank, the team built a reinforced tire holder. The fuel pump was linked to the independent heater, while new lights have also been installed.

Vintage Racing Team is assisting in the effort. They previously fielded four 1960s-era Land Rover Series IIs at the 2022 Dakar Classic. Dusan Randysek previously did the Dakar Rally five times in the 2010s on a bike as well as in an SSV and assistance truck.

The 911 is one of five Porsche models allowed at the Dakar Classic.
