A 2008 Bowler Nemesis that company founder Drew Bowler used as his personal vehicle before appearing on Top Gear with Richard Hammond behind the wheel (to predictably brutal results) is now available for purchase. Williams Classics, who specializes in restoring and selling Land Rovers, has a starting price of £130,000.
The Nemesis is a rally raid-optimized version of the Bowler Wildcat, featuring stylization of a Ranger Rover Sport and a steel tubular frame and roll cage. It also comes with independent rear suspension. Ten units were produced in 2008, with this particular car being the tenth and the only one with a six-speed sequential gearbox fitted.
It was featured in the Season 11 finale of Top Gear, where Hammond drove it in a race against Carsten van Ryssen as part of a battle between the British hosts and the German guests. Van Ryssen, an actor and TV personality, was in his own Bowler.
Years later, the Nemesis has since been fully rebuilt to account for Hammond’s, well, penchant for banging up whatever he drives as well as adding new upgrades. Among the changes are a new SADEV six-speed gearbox, replaced differentials and exhaust, new Brembo brakes, and suspension arms. The battery, starter, alternator, pumps for water and power steering, throttle body, and radiator hav ealso been swapped out, among other components.
Williams is also offering a “large spares package” that includes new and used diffs and gearbox, new windshields, a used but full set of calipers and brake discs, a new steering rack, and six spare shocks.
