Segway is the third different team to win the Mission 1000 Fan Boost in as many years. The vote took place during the Dakar Rally’s rest day on Saturday, with Segway being the only candidate to break five thousand votes.

Voting was held on the Dakar Rally Instagram broadcast channel. When the polls “closed” at 10 PM local time (Instagram doesn’t have an actual timer), Segway led with 5,129 votes to Arctic Leopard’s 4,812 and KH-7 Ecovergy Team’s 2,032.

Winning the vote gives all four Segway riders—Benjamin Pascual, Jie Yang, and Yi Guanghui—ten bonus points, while Arctic Leopard’s trio—Fran Pallas, Esther Merino, and Miguel Puertas—got five points apiece for placing second. Jordi Juvanteny of KH-7 received two for third.

The points are especially critical for Pascual, who entered the rest day second overall behind Juvanteny with 95 points to the latter’s 100. Following the vote, he now leads with 105 to Juvanteny’s 102. Pallas, who was third overall and second for bikes with 86 points, still maintains his spot by two over Jie.

KH-7, who’s won both Mission 1000 challenges since its introduction in 2024, also claimed the inaugural Fan Boost. HySE won the vote in 2025.
