The 2026 Africa Eco Race Historic will span 5,933 kilometers with 2,220 km being timed. As a regularity rally, the Selective Sections will be further divided into 26 sections.

By comparison, the Africa Eco Race proper is 6,163 km long with 3,842 km in SS. While the AER is longer, the AER Historic has a longer special for Stages 6; incidentally, the sixth stage of the Dakar Classic was also longer than that of the Dakar Rally’s.

Otherwise, both races will follow the same route starting in Tangier and finishing on Lac Rose in Dakar.
