Rebelle Rally regulars Jenna Fribley and Liza Beres will enter the 2027 Dakar Classic in a 1972 Range Rover Classic. They announced their Dakar plans in September.
Fribley and Beres have been racing together since 2022. They finished 11th overall in the latest Rebelle Rally last October, driving a 2022 Land Rover Defender 90 as Team 155 OverlandHer.
Their ’72 Range Rover will be modeled after the Range Rover V8 that Alain Génestier drove to victory at the inaugural Paris–Dakar Rally in 1979. The 3.5-liter V8 engine is being rebuilt by TWS Motors, while the LT95 gearbox will be upgraded with a new overdrive from Roamerdrive. Other modifications include reinforced axle housings, limited-slip differentials, and steering stabilizer.
“Taking on the Dakar Classic is the ultimate test of endurance, skill, and teamwork,” said Fribley. “This is more than a race. It’s about adventure, resilience, and living the spirit of exploration that drew us to Land Rovers in the first place.”
It will be the first time both have competed in an international rally. The two had met as fellow Land Rover enthusiasts, and are also friends with 2026 Classic competitors Helen Tait Wright and Marcella Kirk, who raced a 1988 Land Rover 110 as Gazelles Offroad Team.
