After making his vintage rally debut at the 2024 edition, Jos Verstappen will return to the Tour de Corse Historique in October. Unlike two years ago, he’ll be competing in a BMW M3.

The father of current Formula One star Max Verstappen and a former F1 driver himself, Jos decided to resume his own racing career in 2022 by competing in rallies. Unlike Max, who isn’t interested in doing rallies or rally raids himself despite enjoying both, the older Verstappen competes in a litany of series like the Belgian and French national championships and the FIA European Rally Championship. He won the Belgian national title in 2025 with his Citroën C3 Rally2.

In 2024, he entered the Tour de Corse Historique in a Porsche 911. He ran as high as eighth before an oil leak knocked him down to a 20th overall. While he had hopes of returning in 2025, his increased schedule in modern rallies ate into his itinerary.

“I discovered historic rallying during the 2024 edition, behind the wheel of a powerful Porsche 911 with no electronic assistance,” Verstappen recalled. “The roads there are nothing like the ones I’m used to driving on all year in Belgium, and the conditions in 2024 were particularly tough, with heavy rain from day one. Renaud (Jamoul) and I learned a lot, especially when it came to pace notes.

“We’re thrilled to be back in 2026, still with Romain Joffroy’s team. This time, we’ve decided to go for a more modern BMW M3, which should suit me better. I can’t wait to be on the starting line.”

The BMW M3 is the TdCH’s spotlight car for 2026.
