Terrible Herbst Motorsports has launched a charity auction in which the winner and a guest can get a ride-along experience in one of their Trophy Trucks as they prepare for June’s Baja 500.

Proceeds from the winning bid, as well as the buyer’s fee from auctioneer Bring a Trailer, will go to the 43 Institute.

The 43 Institute is a foundation set up by Ken Block’s family following his passing. It aims to carry on his legacy by providing mentoring and opportunities in racing and creative arts, sponsoring programs like sports management training and grants. Since 2023, it has raised and awarded over $200 thousand in scholarships and related projects.

While Block is mainly known for his rally endeavors, he also competed alongside the Herbsts at the 2021 Baja 1000. His daughter Lia and wife Lucy have also done the 1000, winning Pro Stock UTV in 2023.

The winners of the auction will get an all-expenses-paid round trip to and from Las Vegas, staying at the South Point Hotel for two nights. The test will take place in either Jean or Barstow in May.

“We’re so grateful to Team Herbst for making this experience available exclusively through 43i,” Mike Denkers of the 43 Institute said. “The Herbst family has been racing Baja for over 40 years and they’ve been incredibly generous to 43i. Getting in one of those trucks at speed is a bucket list experience. All proceeds go directly to 43 Institute and our mission of creating opportunities for the next generation.”

The auction will run until April 3 (celebrated as 4/3 Day after Block’s #43) and can be accessed here. It is one of multiple campaigns by 43 Institute alongside a rally experience with Bucky Lasek and being at the RTR Lab with Vaughn Gittin Jr.
