After making his Dakar Rally debut earlier this year, David Brock is looking to run the Africa Eco Race for the first time next January. He also plans to run the Rallye du Maroc in September.
Nephew of the great Peter Brock, he competed in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge—finishing 16th in Rally2—and various amateur rallies before being accepted for his maiden Dakar. He followed it up with a 17th in class at the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, but missed Morocco after crashing while testing and getting hurt. Since he had already signed up for the RdM, his entry is still available for use in 2026 and as such plans to honor it come October.
Brock recovered in time for Dakar, but hurt his hand and back when he fell in Stage 1. He tried to continue on but the pain proved too great, forcing him to skip Stage 6 before rejoining the next day. While out of the overall, he was able to reach the finish with a 72nd in Rally2.
“I’ve also got my eye on the Africa Eco Race, which is more or less running the original route of the first Dakar through Africa,” he told SBS Sport. “That runs at about the same time as Dakar ’27, so you won’t see me in Saudi.”
Still, he hasn’t ruled out a return to the Dakar Rally in 2028, mentioning he is “looking at some other challenges in the rally space and that’s what I’m working towards at the moment.”
