After making her cross-country rally debut in November, Hedda Hosås will race in the World Rally-Raid Championship for the first time at this month’s Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. She will drive a Can-Am Maverick for R-X Sport in the SSV class with Pol Tibau as navigator.

Hosås currently serves as the test driver for Extreme H, having been involved with the series since the inaugural season in 2021 under its previous identity Extreme E. She ran the full 2022 and 2023 seasons for a variety of teams, the bulk of her starts coming for JBXE along with one-off rounds for Veloce and McLaren, with a podium at the first Island X Prix in 2022. After McLaren signed Cristina Gutiérrez (also a rally raider) for the 2024 season, Hosås returned to being XE’s reserve driver and eventually the test driver for XH’s Pioneer 25 ahead of its competition debut in 2025.

The Norwegian entered a cross-country rally for the first time at the 2024 Dubai International Baja. Racing a Maverick from R-X Sport with Mohammed Al-Hameri as her co-driver, she finished 14th overall and sixth in SSV.

Hosås also dabbles in SxS Nordic, racing a side-by-side there as well with a 15th-place points finish in 2023.

Tibau’s family oversees Tibau Team, which fields both competition and support trucks. The son of team owner Rafael Tibau, he was the navigator for Pep Sabaté at the Dakar Rally in January, where they both raced and provided support for the Dacia Sandriders. Sabaté and Tibau finished 12th in Truck.

Scheduled for February 22–27, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge will be the second round of the 2025 W2RC.
