Moroccan karting star Omar Benhayoun will see if his skills can translate to the desert in April. On Monday, he announced he will enter the Carta Rallye in an SSV from Team RM Sport with Tanguy Ferreira as navigator.

“This is definitely a new challenge, and I’m super excited to step into this new era,” wrote Benhayoun. “Rallye Raid is a dream come true, and it’s taken a huge amount of work to put this all together. I’m grateful to see it finally happening.”

Benhayoun finished runner-up in the 2024 CNK Karting Championship’s Rotax Senior class. He also represented Morocco in the MENA Karting Championship Nations Cup in Qatar; he competed in the DD2 class and finished seventh, while his country was just seven points short of the overall win behind Lebanon.

The year prior, Morocco won the Nations Cup. Benhayoun set the fastest lap in the DD2 final and placed fifth.

The 30-year-old is also the co-founder and manager of karting team Iron Compétition.

Held in Morocco, the Carta Rallye is scheduled for April 14–20.
