Shaun Richardson knows how to drive a truck around Australian street circuits. There’s just the caveat that it’s a stadium truck.

On Friday, he will see if that also translates to driving a truck that’s more glued to the ground when he makes his V8 SuperUte Series debut at the Sydney 500. He will race the #444 Ford Ranger for Sieders Racing.

Richardson mainly competes in the Australian Trans Am Series, but has been doing the Stadium Super Trucks since 2016. Most of his SST starts have been in his home country, but he has overseas experience too as he ran the 2022 Long Beach weekend. His most recent SST action was the series’ return to Australia in 2024 at Adelaide, where he finished sixth in Race #1 before rolling while cornering in the second race.

He was a regular in SST’s standalone Australian championship, the Boost Mobile Super Trucks, during its original two-year run in 2020 and 2021. Richardson finished fourth in the 2021 standings with four podiums.

He plans to run the 2025 Long Beach round in April, and has aspirations of racing full time should he attain the necessary sponsorship.

Until then, Richardson’s focus will be on the SuperUtes. He isn’t the only stadium truck driver on the 2025 SuperUte grid as 2017 SST and 2021 BMST champion Paul Morris is doing the full schedule. Both will be the fourth and fifth SST drivers to compete in the series after Toby Price, Craig Dontas, and Dave Casey.

Sieders Racing is the top team in the SuperUtes, having won the last three titles with Aaron Borg and Adam Marjoram.
