Amid concerns that the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship season opener would be pushed back due to weather, the Automóvil Club Alcarreño confirmed Tuesday that the Rallye TT de Guadalajara will proceed as scheduled this weekend.
Heavy rain has been hitting the Iberian Peninsula since last week, the result of a DANA; short for a “Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos”, DANAs are slow-moving low-pressure systems. Coming on the heels of deadly floods in Valencia last fall, Spanish authorities have raised alerts about rivers possibly flooding, especially due to Storm Jana, while emergency services are already at work to rescue those trapped or swept away.
However, the ACA reaffirmed the race will not be postponed. The event is held in Cifuentes, Guadalajara, a province in central Spain. The organizers released the following statement:
The Automóvil Club Alcarreño WILL CONTINUE AND GO ON with the the X Rallye TT de Guadalajara “Villa de Cifuentes” on the 14th and 15th of March.
In light of the many calls, messages, and questions received due to the strong storm of rain that the Iberian Peninsula is suffering, the Automóvil Club Alcarreño wants to officially clarify that the X Rallye TT de Guadalajara will proceed on the scheduled dates and locations.
The club’s team continues to work, harder than ever, so that the event is held normally and in the best possible conditions.
We want to make it clear through this statement that all information not relayed through the official channels (website, social media, Sportity) of the Automóvil Club Alcarreño and the X Rallye TT de Guadalajara “Villa de Cifuentes”, lacks any substance and should not be taken into account.
Thank you and see you in Cifuentes!!!
With Guadalajara taking place as scheduled, CERTT avoids having its first two rounds affected in some form. The Rally TT Jaén Mar de Olivos, which was supposed to be the second race of the 2025 season and scheduled for early April, was canceled in January due to financial troubles.
Following the Rallye TT Guadalajara on March 14–15 will be the Baja TT Dehesa Extremadura on May 1–3.
