When the 2025 SCORE season kicks off with the San Felipe 250 on Saturday, Christopher Polvoorde’s black-and-red Optima Batteries Trophy Truck won’t be among those on the grid. Due to other obligations, he will not be doing a SCORE race for the first time since the 2021 Baja 500.

In the meantime, his next race will be the Legacy Racing Association’s VT Construction Battleground on April 10–13.

“Sadly, no San Felipe this year. That doesn’t mean we’re not racing Baja this year—we’ll be back racing the SCORE series. We just had some things and didn’t make sense for us to go to San Felipe,” Polvoorde explained in an Instagram Story posted Thursday.

“But trust me, I still love Baja. I love the fans. I love the racing. Watching the guys qualify today, I had so much FOMO. But that’s life sometimes.

“We’re working on some really cool new stuff. I’m going to be racing at the Legacy Laughlin race next weekend, so be sure to tune in for that. We just went and filmed some really cool YouTube videos today and over the last week, so tune in.

“I’m bummed I’m not there, but we’ll see you guys soon.”

Polvoorde had entered every SCORE race since the 2021 Baja 400, initially competing in Trophy Truck Spec. He won his class at San Felipe and the Baja 400 in 2022 before graduating to Trophy Truck at the following year’s 400. Since then, he’s been a regular and notched a third overall at last year’s Baja 500. He teamed up with Bryce Menzies for the Baja 1000, though they retired after 28 miles due to a steering failure.

His most recent SF 250 saw him finish seventh.

In January, Polvoorde won the Toyo Tires Desert Challenge’s Unlimited class at King of the Hammers.
