The Ducati Desmo450 MX, the Italian manufacturer’s first time building a motocross bike, is now available for early reservation on Prelaunch.com.
While Ducati is best known for its pavement motorcycles, it has an off-road division that’s developed bikes like the DesertX. The Desmo450, meanwhile, was designed for motocross and is currently used in the Italian Motocross Pro Prestige MX1 Championship. The Ducati Factory MX Team won from the pole on debut with Alessandro Lupino in March 2024 en route to the championship.
As its name suggests, the Desmo450 has a 449.6cc single-cylinder engine that produces 63.5 horsepower. It has a dry weight of 231 kilograms (104.8 kg) and comes with advanced electronics that allow for launch and closed-loop traction control. A five-speed transmission is included. The bike is built with an aluminum-welded frame, upside down front fork suspension and mono shock on the rear, and over 300 millimeters of wheel travel.
An official partner of Ducati, Prelaunch is a website that specializes in gauging public interest for a certain product ahead of its release. Early reservations receive a custom Alpinestars jersey.
“Meet the first-ever Ducati 450cc motocross bike—bringing Italian engineering to off-road racing,” reads the product page on Prelaunch. “Powered by a powerful Desmodromic valve engine and packed with pro-level electronics, the Desmo450 MX is built from the ground up for serious performance—from MXGP to your local track.”
