After doing the last two Dakar Rallies, Gad Nachmani will attempt the Africa Eco Race in 2026 instead.
Nachmani entered the Dakar Rally for the first time in 2024, three years after he began competing in international rally raids. A difficult Chrono Stage prevented him from completing the full race as he finished 76th in Rally2.
The 2025 Dakar went far smoother. Nachmani placed 56th in class with a best run of 57th in Stage 9.
With two Dakars under his belt, he’s now keen on trying the ‘real’ Dakar rally starting in Europe and finishing in Senegal. Given the route follows that of the old Dakar, it’s not uncommon for Dakar regulars to opt for the AER. Nachmani’s Club Aventura Touareg teammate Fabio Lottero, who did the 2024 Dakar, is also doing the 2026 Africa Eco Race.
It wouldn’t be his first time going through Morocco. He’s competed in the Rallye du Maroc thrice, finishing 47th in class at the 2023 edition, and has also entered the Morocco Desert Challenge.
The 2026 Africa Eco Race will run from January 24 to February 7.
