Four of the five FIA classes in the World Rally-Raid Championship will award trophies starting in 2026 as Stock joins the party. The FIA World Motor Sport Council confirmed the addition of titles for Stock drivers, navigators, and manufacturers on Tuesday, as well as the creation of a team-based championship.

Stock has long been the smallest FIA category, typically only featuring Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body and the occasional privateer at just the Dakar Rally and Rallye du Maroc. With such little participation, there was little need for the class to award titles like Ultimate, Challenger, and SSV. Truck also formerly had a championship from 2022 to 2023 before being dropped due to low entries outside of Dakar.

However, tides have shifted with the introduction of new Stock regulations for 2026 to make the production class more affordable; both cars under the new and old rules are eligible. Besides Toyota Auto Body, Land Rover will run the full 2026 season with Rokas Baciuška and Stéphane Peterhansel. Ford and Nissan have also expressed interest in Stock programs, though entries have yet to be confirmed.

“Land Rover Defenders plan to compete in the category, which is expected to be more exciting than ever,” notes a statement from TLC.

Stock joins Ultimate as the only classes with a manufacturers’ trophy. Although Challenger and SSV have different brands as well, the FIA doesn’t distinguish too much between UTVs at the moment.

The FIA Rally-Raid Championship for Teams is in essence a bigger version of the manufacturers’ championship since both factory and privateers can take part, as opposed to a select handful of teams per marque. It is also for all categories rather than just Ultimate. This takes a page from the regional level, where the FIA European and Middle East Baja Cups have trophies for teams.
