Despite making his Dakar Rally debut in January, Mathieu Feuvrier was unable to convince the ASO to give him another shot in 2026. He revealed on Friday he was not among the 130 riders selected for the 2026 race, though he hopes to change the organizers’ minds at the Rallye du Maroc in October.
“Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected to participate in Dakar 2026,” wrote Feuvrier in an Instagram Story. “The only option for me is to participate in the 2025 Rallye du Maroc in order to compete in Dakar 2026.
“To be continued…”
Feuvrier qualified for the 2025 Dakar Rally after competing in the 2022 and 2023 Rallyes du Maroc, initially starting in Rally3 before moving up to Rally2. A 46th in class at the latter was enough to secure him a spot.
However, his Dakar debut only lasted until the Chrono Stage just two legs in when he crashed into a dune and broke his collarbone.
When acceptance letters for the 2026 race began rolling out on Friday, he was instead told the opposite. While being rejected certainly stings, it’s far from the end of the line for the upcoming year’s Dakar. After all, there are two W2RC races remaining with the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal and Morocco, the latter often used as a dress rehearsal for Dakar-bound teams.
Given his past starts there, it makes sense for him to pursue another go at the RdM. Feuvrier fully recovered from his injury over the spring. In May, he competed in the Generali Genève Marathon and finished 3,171st of the 4,252 runners taking part (1,184th of the 2,026 in his class).
The Rallye du Maroc and his final shot to make the 2026 Dakar Rally will take place on October 10–17.
