Honda Powersports’ four-wheeled vehicles return for 2026, but with various changes made. The Honda Pioneer 700 in particular has received the most upgrades.
Honda FourTrax
As Honda’s utility ATV, the FourTrax comes in two variations: the Rubicon and the Recon. The Rubicon can further be divided into the smaller Foreman Rubicon, which is relatively unchanged, and the new Rubicon 700 4×4 Automatic.
The 2026 Rubicon 700 4×4 Automatic features a 675cc liquid-cooled, semi-dry-sump longitudinally-mounted, single-cylinder engine with four overhead valves, the same used in the Pioneer 700. The latter is new for the upcoming model year, upping from the two-valve version. Otherwise, both versions are identical in every other regard.
It measures in at 86.5″ × 47.5″ × 48″ (length × width × height) with 848 lbs of towing capacity. The quad has an automatic three-speed transmission with a hydraulic torque converter and an independent double-wishbone suspension (6.9″ of travel on the front, 8″ on the rear). For utility, it comes with a 5.2-liter rear storage box and a 1.8L front compartment.
Meanwhile, the Recon is the smallest multi-purpose quad from Honda at 75×40.7×42.1″. with a 229cc air-cooled, longitudinally-mounted, single-cylinder four-stroke motor. It can tow up to 500 lbs and comes with a five-speed transmission that varies by trim: the standard version has a foot-shift transmission and an automatic clutch, while the Recon ES has Honda’s push-button system.
The Recon also features a swingarm rear suspension with 4.9″ of wheel travel and 5.1″ from an independent double-wishbone front suspension.
Neither model is available in California due to state emissions laws.
Honda Pioneer
The Honda Pioneer is the utility side-by-side, coming in 700 and 520 variants.
The Pioneer 700 is the headliner of the 2026 series. It features the same dimensions as the 2025 model (115.2″ long by 59.9″ wide and 78″ tall for the Forest model, 114.8×59.9″ for the Deluxe with varying heights) along with similar internals like an 8.1-gallon fuel tank and 675cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally-mounted, single-cylinder four-stroke engine.
However, the 2026 700 has more storage space with 29.4-liter underbed compartments and ten-liter storage holds below the dashboard. Previously, only the Forest version carried a 3.9-liter compartment. It also comes with a USB-C port in the glove box and protection like skid plates and front guards.
“The Pioneer 700 has always delivered on Honda’s promise of reliability, ease-of-use and overall performance,” American Honda PR head Colin Miller said. “Now, with key upgrades for 2026, our original Pioneer is even more practical and functional than ever, thanks to additional options for carrying personal items and cargo, as well as convenience-focused updates. From recreational trail riding to hard work, the Pioneer 700 delivers as a capable multipurpose side-by-side.”
Meanwhile, the Pioneer 520 is a 518cc variant for smaller work. Compared to 2025, it has an updated final-gear assembly and transmission gearing that increases top speed by 23% and a new transmission shift map. Storage underneath the seats is now the norm rather than an accessory.
The Pioneer 520 has a 450-pound cargo capacity and 1,000-lb towing capacity, both less than its larger 700 counterpart (1,000-lb cargo bed and 1,500-lb towing capacity).
Honda TRX250X
The TRX250X is branded as the company’s “entry-level sport ATV”.
It is heavily based on the FourTrax Recon, using the same 229cc engine and suspension setup, albeit with slightly more travel (5.9″ front, 5.7″ rear) and a manual five-speed transmission. The TRX250X is also smaller at 68.5×41.8×42.6″ in dimensions.
Like the FourTrax, it is sold in every state but California.
