Ricardo Porém will miss the Baja TT Sharish Gin and BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal due to injuries he sustained in an accident on August 30. He was supposed to take part in the new Kaizen T3.

Built by Cattiva Sport, the Kaizen was touted as the state-of-the-art light prototype for the Challenger class. Porém debuted the Kaizen at the Baja Aragón in July, but retired with a mechanical issue.

With the FIA European Baja Cup and World Rally-Raid Championship set to visit their home country in September, Porém and Cattiva hoped to give the Kaizen another go in racing conditions. Of course, the accident means those plans have been put on the backburner for now as he focuses on recovering. He does not expect to race again until 2026.

“This project will have to wait,” Porém wrote. “I’ll make a longer pit stop, but never a permanent one!

“Now, months of recovery follow, with full focus on coming back even stronger. I won’t be able to return to competition until 2026, but I’ll do with the certainty that I’ll be able to give 200% of my best!”

Porém raced an MMP T3 at this year’s Dakar Rally, but did not finish. He will likely miss the 2026 Dakar due to his injuries, marking his first absence since 2022.

The Baja TT Sharish Gin is taking place on September 12–15, while the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal is on September 23–28.
