Adrien Van Beveren’s BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal was cut short by a crash that resulted in his first W2RC DNF and a broken shoulder. With the season set to end just two weeks later, he’s already been cleared to return for the Rallye du Maroc.

“After 10 days of intense recovery at home, I’ve had the green light from my medical team to fly over and join the team,” Van Beveren wrote.

“I’m still very sore (mostly because of my broken ribs), but I’ve had this challenge in mind since day one — so now I’m going for it! One more or one less race won’t change anything, right? But I’m taking it as a step forward after the Portugal crash and toward my Dakar preparation.”

During Stage 2 in Portugal, Van Beveren was running second when he missed a turn and flew off a cliff. He hurt his shoulder in the landing, after which Luciano Benavides and Rally2 race winner Edgar Canet stopped to help out.

Unable to continue, he was airlifted out and suffered his first retirement since the W2RC’s inception in 2022. The exit also dropped him from fourth in points to fifth, though his chances at a title were extremely slim to begin with entering Portugal and Daniel Sanders ultimately clinched a race early.

“No expectations on the result this time, just a good opportunity to do what I love most: RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE and slowly get back in shape,” continued Van Beveren.

Van Beveren placed fourth at the Rallye du Maroc in 2024 en route to a runner-up points finish.
