A pair of Polaris RZR XP Pro UTVs that were customized and turned into golf carts for the movie Happy Gilmore 2 went for $26,400 (pink) and $27,500 (blue) at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale fall auction last weekend.

In Happy Gilmore 2, the RZRs are souped-up carts fielded by Maxi Golf, the antagonist faction that prioritizes spectacle and flair over classic golf like the old-school Tour. Adam Sandler, as the film’s titular character, is depicted riding shotgun in the blue cart and trying to hit the ball while in motion.

While the thought of using a UTV as a golf cart feels ludicrous (as it probably should be given Maxi Golf is portrayed), it’s not exactly confined to fiction: U.S. President Donald Trump had a modified Polaris Ranger XP 1000 when he went golfing in Scotland around the same time as the film’s release.

The carts were made by Vehicle Effects, a Los Angeles-based firm that builds custom vehicles for Hollywood. Their portfolio inludes the Flip Car from Fast & Furious 6, Bud’s truck in Day Shift, and providing cars for films like Gran Turismo, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, La La Land, Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman, Taken 3, and other Fast & Furious productions.

Vehicle Effects started with a dozen Polaris RZRs. From there, they 3D printed a custom body and added new wheels, tires, and lighting. Once complete, golf bags and other related equipment are added. Full Throttle Picture Cars Inc. oversaw maintenance.

All other elements from the original RZR XP stay the same, such as the 925cc engine that produces 181 horsepower.

Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel to the 1996 film, was released on Netflix in late July.
