When Donald Trump visited Scotland in late July, he spent some time at the Trump Turnberry hotel and golf course where he was accompanied by a “motorcade” that included multiple golf carts. One particular cart caught people’s eyes: a weirdly beefed up Polaris Ranger.

It retains the basic body of the four-door Polaris Ranger XP 1000, but has reinforced body plating and windows. The rear window has been closed off entirely.

The U.S. president himself continued to get around in a standard golf cart, specifically an E-Z-GO RXV 2, like everyone else. A Secret Service agent piloted the Ranger and accompanied him to each hole.

A White House spokesperson told The War Zone the Ranger is “part of the Presidential fleet of specialty vehicles,” which includes aircraft like Air Force One and Marine One as well as any specialized ground vehicles to get around. The most notable example of the latter is “The Beast”, a custom Cadillac that Trump and Joe Biden have used.

It doesn’t seem to have an official name, though it quickly acquired the colloquial moniker of “Golf Force One” as a play on the aforementioned plane and helicopter.

While media reports have taken notice of the UTV, details have been fairly scant save for Polaris confirming it’s indeed a Ranger (though that was obvious from the branding as well) that was upgraded by a third party. It’s also unknown who was specifically behind the build, though TWZ found Scaletta Armoring offers a similar armor kit for the Ranger XP 1000.

Most outlets like TWZ and the New York Post surmise the Ranger was built as to provide a quick safety route for Trump should something go awry, such as the two assassination attempts on him in 2024. The second came while he was golfing in Florida.

The Ranger is Polaris’ utility side-by-side, as opposed to their performance-intended RZR, and is typically used for matters like hauling items and breaking in new homes. Incidentally, the 2026 model including the new Ranger 500 was revealed just days after Trump’s Scotland visit.

While it’s a challenge finding out more on Golf Force One, what is certain is that UTVs are unfortunately not beating the golf cart allegations anytime soon.
