A KAMAZ-635050 that was used as a mobile command center by KAMAZ-master at the Dakar Rally in the 2010s is up for sale. The team has a price tag of about 65 million rubles (approximately USD$820,196) including value-added tax.
KAMAZ-master began using the 635050 as a service and assistance vehicle for their competition trucks in 2007. It appeared at the Dakar Rally every year from 2007 until the team’s last start in 2022, after which it remained in use for every round of the Russian Rally-Raid Championship and the Silk Way Rally through 2025.
In total, the truck showed up to fifteen Dakars and thirteen Silk Ways. During this stretch, KAMAZ won the former 12 times and the latter on 11 occasions including the latest edition in July.
From 2012 to 2023, the 635050 doubled as the team’s mobile headquarters where lead personnel called the shots while following the route.
Weighing at 30 thousand kilograms, it is an all-wheel-drive truck that features a 635-horsepower Cummins QSZ13 engine, and manual transmission. To accommodate the increased personnel and resources carried, the wheelbase was extended while the payload capacity was increased. The truck was built in 2005.
“A machine with a history of victory is the ideal choice for those who appreciate power and reliability,” proclaims the listing on Avito.ru.
The sale comes on the heels of KAMAZ selling their 2020 Dakar-winning KAMAZ-43509 for ₽100 million in June. It’s not uncommon for teams to sell their old vehicles after use as they upgrade, though KAMAZ has also been doing so to alleviate financial pressure following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
