Starting in 2026, the Legacy Racing Association will permit active suspension in Class 10 buggies and Class 6100 trucks.

Live valve suspension, whether electronic or mechanically operated, is currently forbidden in all car and truck categories save for Unlimited Truck and Class 1. As such, those vehicles mainly operate on passive suspensions.

UTVs, on the other hand, are allowed any type of suspension. Given this caveat and the increasing development for UTVs, Legacy figured now would be a good time to allow Classes 10 and 6100 to follow suit.

The series announced on Tuesday:

As technology and vehicles change, Legacy constantly monitors the progression, competitiveness and overall well being of each class.

The time has come to allow these advances that have been tested and monitored for several years to be included in Class 10 and Class 6100.

For 2026 Legacy will allow active suspension in both Class 10 and 6100 classes along with the current inclusion in all UTV classes.

These classes will continue to be monitored as these changes are implemented to maintain good, fair and highly competitive racing.

With the rule set to take effect in 2026, the 2025 season-ending VT Construction Desert Showdown on December 3–7 will be the last in which Class 10 and Class 6100 competitors cannot use active suspension. The 2026 season begins with the Parker Dam 500 on February 18–22.
